40k Content to Binge in Isolation

Its been about a month since we all got lockdown due to Covid-19 and despite all the difficulties we all have to deal with on a daily basis, the world keeps on turning. Most of us are keeping sane with the help of our hobbies like 40k, painting miniatures or even playing some games if you are luckily enough to be in lockdown with a fellow gamer. Others have been playing through the many digital offering the 40k universe has, or reading up on their back log of lore and stories from the black library.

But for others, especially those who are key/essential workers, there isn’t that much time to get on with some hobbying. I myself have had one heck of a week at work covering multiple shifts as a support worker. The people we support can’t look after themselves, and me and my colleges have been doing our best to keep their spirits up and make sure they have everything they need. And to be honest, I have it for better than many others. Medical staff, emergency crews and many others are working tirelessly to keep people safe and health.

As a result of the long work week, many don’t have the energy to pick up a paint brush or the mental will to do battle in the 41st millennium. The most we can manage is to get out our phone or sit in front of a screen and watch something to try and take our mind off what is to come the next day.

But that doesn’t mean we have to miss out on our hobby. We can stay connected to the community through some of the many great content creators out there who are using this time to produce more videos and streams to keep us entertained. I myself have been watching more than few 40k content creators over the last few weeks after finishing a shift, and between watch them and talking to my family over the phone they have done a great job of keeping my spirits up.

Today I wanted to share with you some of them in the hopes that their content can help you pass the time or take our mind off the troubles in the world. Hopefully, you will find something new here that will keep you entered in the coming weeks. Fingers crossed this will be over sooner rather than later and the world can return to something approaching normality. But until that day make sure you look after yourselves and others by keeping your distance and staying safe.

Snipe and Wib

If you’re in the mood for entertaining lets plays and videos about people infantilising hulking dreadnoughts, you can’t go wrong with Snipe and Wib. With a healthy catalogue of video about 40k and other fun topics, this couple can always get a smile out of me. I would personally recommend their Codex Compliant series, that looks at the history of the game we all love whether it be old codex’s or miniature ranges, and was the inspiration for our Retro-hammer articles.

40k Theories

If you’re more in the mood for some deep dives into the many mysteries surrounding the 40k universe, why not give the videos of Remleiz a watch. Whether it is finding out about how a cloned Primarch started another civil war, or how Malal is responsible for the death of multiple imperial worlds, there is something for everyone. Just don’t get too last down the rabbit hole.

Tabletop Tactics

If battle reports are more other thing, then you can’t go far wrong with the fine gents over at Tabletop Tactic. I personally love their narrative battle reports, which as well as been fun to watch offer a chance to see some unique army builds you don’t often get to see.

Midwinter Minis

Fancy brushing up on your painting? Try Guy and Penny from Midwinter Minis. As well as giving great advice to new and old hobbyists on the subject of painting miniatures, they also have some fab videos of budget scenery building using recyclable materials. I personally have been finding their Blackstone Fortress series very helpful, getting me inspired to paint up my own set.

And so many more.

And that is not even scratching the surface of great 40k content creators to watch. Norn Queen Alexis, Kirioth, Chapter Master Valrak and many, many more all produce content for your enjoyment. Give them a try and if you like what they do give them a like and subscribe. Speaking of that, don’t forget to like and subscribe to keep up to date with our written content here at Master of Magics.

Hopefully you will have found something to put a smile on your face during these difficult times. Remember, we aren’t alone. We are a community, and we will get through this together. If you want to contact me you can do so on twitter @MTGTengu to share armies, meme about 40k or just chat.  Look after yourself and each other and remember, “The Emperor Protects”.
