Army Showcase: Raph Chelios’ Adeptus Custodes

As you know, we here at Master of Magics like to keep our eyes peeled for interesting and unique armies. Hobbyists spend hours of their time creating, for lack of a better word, art. So, when we see an army that impresses us, we reach out and ask the owner if they want to tell us about how and why they came up with their ideas. In todays army showcase, we take a look at the awesome Adeptus Custodes of Raph Chelios.

Thanks for joining us Raph. First question, what inspired you to go with the Custodies as an army?

I was always a big fan of the Imperium, so when I read the lore of the elite warriors created by the emperor himself, I instantly fell in love with them. Originally, I only wanted to own a small detachment of them, but they quickly grew to over 4500 points over time.

Do you have any back story for these fine chappies? What front are they currently fighting on?

They are the guardians of the Emperor and his palace; the most elite army of the whole galaxy. When Guilliman returned, he started to send the Custodes to various war zones, the Indomitus Crusade being one of them. They are so revered that it is deemed heresy for the Administratum to record them ever losing a battle. It is recorded that any warzone the Custodes are deployed to is an Imperial victory, even before they arrive.

Do you have a particular model you are the proudest of?

It’s hard to pick a favourite model, but I guess it is my Telemon dreadnought. It was my first forgeworld model and it was a joy to paint the model and base, the arms are magnetized so I can swap between the weapon options.

So, what’s next on the painting table for these guys?

Probably more Bikes. You can never have enough bikes.

Any plans for what you’re going to do next? Any other armies planned?

I just started a Khorne daemon army, so An’ggrath the unbound is the next thing I’ll be working on.

Sounds great.
