New Year Painting Challenge: September

It’s that time of the month again, where I show you wonderful people of the internet what I have been painting in the last month worth of hobby time. With last months log coming out late (and as a result containing more models than it normally would) I have fewer models than usual to show off. On the plus side, I did manage to get my Death Guard up to 1,000 points, which means in this year alone I’ve got around 3,000 points of Chaos Soup finished up. Not bad going if I do say so myself.

As you will know if you have been following this series, I have already hit my target for yearly models painted, so now it’s a case of seeing how far I can take it before we reach the end of the year. As we approach the end of this god-awful year, I’m aiming to finish on a high and try and get some of my Space Marines and Necrons printed up to use in an upcoming battle report. But before we get to that, lets have a look at those Death Guard.

First up we have a Foul Blightspawn, in all his pustule glory. Like the rest of my Death Guard, the Blightspawn was painted up in rusty armour, with his little Nurgling helper painted to match my Nurgle Daemon paint scheme, thus linking the two armies. I think painting these miniature has cemented the fact that Nurgle models are my favourite out of the forces of Chaos. There is just so much character in each one and they have been a joy to paint. I’m sure this gent will have a ton of fun spraying puss all over the servants of the false emperor when I eventually manage to get them on to the battlefield.

Next up we have a Foetid Bloat-drone from the Dark Imperium box set. Much like the Myphitic Blight-haulers I painted last month, this Daemon Engine fits right at home with the rusted paint job of my Rust Lords. Slightly trickier to paint than it ground based kin, thanks in no small part to the wires trailing behind the model. Still, I’m happy with the result and like the Foul Blightspawn above, I can’t wait to vomit forth acidic bile on my opponent’s models when I next get the chance. Not sure when that will be as we do seem to be heading into a second wave of lockdowns, but everyone’s health trumps gaming so wait I most.

And that will do it for today. I’ll be back at the end of October, and since it will be the spookiest of all the months I’m going to promise you all that I will have some skeleton in space painted up (aka, Necrons). If you don’t want to miss out on that or any of the other great content we do please like and subscribe to keep up to date with all we do here at Master of Magics.
