Last weekend, Patriot Games in Sheffield held their yearly Invitational tournament. This event was a true test of a players skill at magic, as they not only had to master one format, but four. On the Saturday thirty-six specially invited players, gathered to play a Sealed tournament in the morning, before moving onto Standard in the afternoon. The top sixteen players would move onto day two, where Modern and Draft would await them. Luck for us, we had all received invitations to this event. Chris Vincent, Abi, Bez and myself, all headed down to the store with lofty aims of victory. Unfortunately, Bez and yours truly didn’t make it to day two. But don’t worry, both Abi and Chris qualified for the second day, and Chris even went on to win the whole event.

The weekend was a blast, and we got to see how Amonkhet had impacted on Standard and Modern. So today, we will have a look at the top 8 best overall preforming players decks from the Standard portion of the event, including Chris impressive winning deck. And don’t worry you Modern aficionados, we will be posting up the top 8 for that portion of the event as soon as I can write it up.
